Jean Ellen Pillsbury, 78 of Derry died Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at Parkland Medical Center of Derry after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born May 15, 1932 in Manchester, NH, daughter of the late Raymond E. and Goldie (Johnson) Whitcomb. She was raised and educated in Derry, and was a graduate of Pinkerton Academy.
Mrs. Pillsbury had been a resident of Bethlehem, PA for 33 years prior to moving back home to Derry in 1996.
Mrs. Pillsbury was a homemaker, and worked as a secretary for 16 years at the High Rise for the Elderly in Bethlehem. She was a former president of the Lehigh University Women’s Club, a longtime member and volunteer at the First Presbyterian Church of Bethlehem, and a longtime member and Deacon at the First Parish United Church of Christ of East Derry. She was also a co-founder of the K.I.T (Keeping in Touch) program of the First Parish church. She was also a member of the Thalian Club of Derry, and the Beaver Lake Improvement Association.
In her life: Members of the family include her husband of 60 years, Warren A. Pillsbury of Derry, a son and his wife Robert and Yasmine Green Pillsbury of New York , NY, daughter Pamela Pillsbury of Bethlehem, PA and daughter and her husband, Jennifer and Michael O’Keefe of Wenonah, NJ, 4 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and is also survived by her aunt Alberta Wood of Shoreham, VT.
There are no calling hours, Following cremation, a memorial service will be held Sunday January 9, 2011 at 2:00pm at the First Parish Church, UCC of East Derry, 47 East Derry Road, and a spring time committal is planned for Forest Hills Cemetery of East Derry.
