Augusta, Ga. – John Charles Kuchinski, 79, of Augusta, Georgia, husband of 54 years to Mrs. Mary L. Kuchinski, entered into rest on Sunday, January 2, 2011.
Mr. Kuchinski graduated from Pennsylvania State University in 1954 with a degree in Chemical Engineering. He worked as a Capital Projects Analyst at Thermal Ceramics for 40 years, retiring in 1996. Originally from Shamokin, Pa, Mr. and Mrs. Kuchinski have lived in Augusta for more than 50 years.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church on Friday, January 7, 2011 at 11:00 am with the Rev. John Tran officiating. Burial will follow in Westover Memorial Park.
Survivors in addition to his wife include five children: Mark Kuchinski (Mary), Lisa Bussey (Mitchel), Matthew Kuchinski, Kimberly Barber (Bobby), and Ann Marie Kuchinski, and eight grandchildren: Austin Kuchinski, Sam Kuchinski, Mary Kate Kuchinski, Rick Odell, Scott Odell,Tyler Bussey, Ryan Bussey, Jonathan Bussey, Ben Dunn, and Kristina Dunn.
The Kuchinski family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of the Georgia War Veterans Nursing Home, especially those on the 3rd floor, for helping to care for Mr. Kuchinski over the past seven years. The family would also like to thank Jackie Richardson and Rhonda Vann for the additional assistance they provided to Mr. Kuchinski.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to the Georgia War Veterans Home (Blue Goose) Auxiliary Fund 1101 15th Street, Augusta, GA 30901 or St. Mary on the Hill School Endowment Fund, 1220 Monte Sano Ave., Augusta, GA 30904.
There will be a vigil service Thursday evening at 6:00 pm immediately followed by visitation from 6:30 pm until 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
