Obituary

Arthur J. “Bud” James, 84 years, of Brockton, died January 2, 2011, at Signature Healthcare Brockton Hospital after a period of failing health. He was the husband of the late Rita A. (Hollien) James. A lifelong resident of Brockton, he was the son of the late Arthur J. and Blanche A. (Theberge) James. Bud was a 1945 graduate of Brockton High School and attended Northeastern University. For many years he had been employed by General Dynamics/Quincy Shipyard and retired from Honeywell. During his retirement years he was employed as a Doorman at the Conley Funeral Home. His interests included woodcarving, stained glass and electronics. He was active in Scouting with its’ Adult Training, Survival, Wood Badge, Cooking and Leadership programs, and was an Extraordinary Eucharistic Minister, Lector and CCD Teacher for local churches.

Bud is survived by his son Mark E. James, RN of Apache Junction, AZ, grandson Mark A. James, USN Medical Corps, a brother Dr. Robert J. James and his wife Marge of Amherst, and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral from the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton, Thursday at 8am. Funeral Mass in Our Lady of Lourdes Church at 9am. Burial in Melrose Cemetery. Visiting Hours Wednesday 4-8pm. Donations in Bud’s name may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701 or the American Diabetes Association, 330 Congress St., #501, Boston, MA 02210-1258.
