Obituary

Joseph P. O’Donnell, 72, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died unexpectedly at the Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton on Friday, December 31. He was the beloved husband of Anna Marie (Foley) O’Donnell. Born in Boston, he graduated from Mission Hill High School and Newbury College with a degree in accounting. Mr. O’Donnell was a resident of Stoughton since 1973 after living in Roslindale for many years. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1958-1962. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service in the West Roxbury branch for 38 years before retiring at age 62. Mr. O’Donnell was an avid Patriots fan who enjoyed working in his yard, smoking his pipe and spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife, Mr. O’Donnell is survived by his daughter, Kelly M. O’Donnell of Brockton. He was predeceased by his sister, Florence Segreve and his brother, Charles O’Donnell. He is survived by many nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt.27) Stoughton on Thursday, January 6 at 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 10:30 AM. Visiting Hours Wednesday from 4-8 PM. Burial will take place at Gardens of Gethsemane Cemetery, West Roxbury. Donations in Joseph‘s name may be made to Dana Farber Cancer Institute, 10 Brookline Pl. West, 6th Flr., Brookline, MA 02445.
