Martha H. Warren, 87 of Manchester, formerly of Derry, NH and Saugus, MA died Monday January 3, 2011 at Elliot Hospital in Manchester after a period of declining health.
She was born September 15, 1923 in Revere, MA and was the daughter of the late Daniel and Frances (O’fria) Stowell. She was raised and educated in Saugus, Ma and was a graduate of Saugus High School. She lived most of her life in Saugus, prior to retiring to Beaver Lake in Derry in 1980.
Prior to retirement, Mrs. Warren and her husband were the owners of Gustafson & Warren Florists in Saugus, MA. She was a lifelong music enthusiast, and her great passion was singing. During her lifetime, Mrs. Warren had the opportunity to sing at many different venues in the Boston area, including several of the local radio stations. She also loved to sing for her fellow residents at the Meeting House in Manchester.
She was a founder of the Cheer Leading group for Saugus Youth Football, and was also a longtime cheer leading coach, she was also former president of the Beaver Lake Improvement Association. She received her greatest enjoyment spending time with her children and grandchildren. She will long be remembered for her ability to keep a positive outlook in all situations, and she was a “Mother to the end”.
She was predeceased by her husband of 64 years, John “Jack” Warren in 2007.
Members of the family include her daughter and son-in-law Pamela and Mike Scott of Peabody, MA, son Craig Warren of Bangor, ME, a son and his wife William and Cookie Warren of Naples, FL, and a son and his wife, John and Marcie Warren of East Hampton, CT., 11 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
There are no calling hours, private services are being planned by the family.
