Dominic S. “Dom” DiMare, 85 of Somerville, died Thursday after a brief illness in the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center West Campus, Boston, MA.
Born in Boston, he has lived in Somerville for the past 54 years and formerly of the West End of Boston. He was the son of the late Alfia (Giannino) and Joseph DiMare. Dom was a Shipper with Domino Sugar for 25 years and retired in 1990. He served during WW II in the US Navy from 1943 to 1946 as a Seaman First Class.
Beloved husband of Margaret (Passanesi) DiMare. Devoted father of Michael DiMare of FL, Maria DiMare and her husband James Sullivan of Stoneham, Daniel DiMare and his wife Jill of Reading. Loving grandfather of Alessandra, Adriana, Michael, David, John, and Daniel DiMare. Brother of Frances Matara of Somerville, Joseph DiMare of CA and the late Josephine, Mary, James, John and Sam. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Funeral from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., MEDFORD Wednesday at 9 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Ann Church, 399 Medford St., Somerville at 10 AM.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
Visiting hours Tuesday 4-8.
Services will conclude with burial at St. Michael Cemetery, Boston.
