New Bedford-Maria C. (Alvelino) Alves age 82 years died Friday December 31, 2010 at St. Luke’s Hospital. Maria was the mother of David A. Alves and his wife Marcia L. Mrs. Alves was the grandmother of Kelly Lynn (Alves) and her husband Peter Benevides, Matthew David Alves and Eric Shawn Alves and the great-grandmother of Kennedy Laura Benevides. She was the sister of the late Antonio Lopes Avelino.
Mrs. Alves was the daughter of the late Alda (Lopes) and Joao Alvelino. Maria was born in Alcanede, Santarém , Portugal, and has lived in this area since 1959. She was formerly employed as a stitcher at local dress factories.
Mrs. Alves’s Funeral will be Tuesday January 4 at Perry Funeral Home 111 Dartmouth St. at 8:45 A.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Church Dartmouth, at 10 A.M. Burial will follow at Rural Cemetery. Visiting hours are Monday from 6-8 P.M.
