Mr. Richard T. “Dick” Nelson, age 68, of Saugus formerly of Medford, passed away Sunday morning following a brief illness. Born in Medford he was the son of the late Alice (Hansen) and Gothard Nelson. He was a resident of Saugus for over thirty years. Dick retired a few years ago after working as a supervisor with the City of Brookline D.P.W. for many years. Dick also worked as a bartender for many years and tended bar at the Lynnfield Country Club and at 1200 Beacon in Brookline. He enjoyed working with horses and was an avid golfer and a member of the Hillview Golf Club in North Reading. Late U.S.M.C. Veteran of the Korean War.
Dick is survived by his brother Norman Nelson and his wife Barbara of East Falmouth. He was the uncle of David Nelson of East Falmouth, Kathleen Price of Kingston and AnnMarie Brydon of East Falmouth. He is also survived by his daughters, Michelle McCarthy of haverhill and Jennifer Stanley of North Carolina. He is further survived by several grand nieces and grand nephews.
Funeral from the Dello Russo Funeral Home 306 Main St. Medford, Wednesday at 10 AM. Followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Joseph Church 118 High St. Medford, at 11 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
