Obituary

Anna M. (Sakovitch) Winchus 84, of Brockton died Wednesday December 29, 2010 surrounded by her family at the Good Samaritan Medical Center, Brockton. She was the devoted wife of the late John J. Winchus. Anna was born in Providence, Rhode Island. She was a daughter of the late Henry and Malvina (Kishlanshaite) Sakovitch and grew up in Dorchester.
For many years Anna was an insurance adjuster with Travelers Insurance in Boston. She loved playing bingo with her best friend Claire Packard. She also enjoyed cribbage, Yahtzee and “donating” her money to Foxwoods. Anna was an avid knitter, crocheter, and fan of the New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox. She had also been active in many bowling leagues at Westgate Lanes. Her family will remember Anna as the strongest woman they ever knew.
She was the loving mother of Karen Lipofsky and her husband John of Sabattus, Maine; Donna Tanguay and her husband Richard of Richmond, Rhode Island and Renee Blake of Taunton. She was the loving Nana of Stephanie Mellen, Christina Lipofsky, Heidi, Colleen and Eric Tanguay, Jessica Irving, Allison and Emily Blake, Jacob and Nicholas Mellen.
Funeral from the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont St. (Rte 123) Brockton Tuesday at 9 am. Funeral Service in the First Evangelical Lutheran Church 900 Main St. Brockton at 10 am. Burial in Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton. Visiting hours Monday 5-8 pm. Donations in Anna’s name may be made to the Patient Activity Fund at The Guardian Center 888 N. Main St., Brockton, MA 02301.
