Obituary

ESSEX: Arthur M. Tarr, 93, of Chebacco Terrace, formerly of Bond Street, died Thursday, December 30, 2010 in the Seacoast Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. He was the husband of Kathryn E. “Kay” (Lane) Tarr.
Born in Gloucester on October 26, 1917, he was the son of the late Lewis H. and Lena (Corliss) Tarr. He had attended Gloucester public schools.
Art was a delivery person for the former Silva Brothers Florist in Rockport for forty-three years, having retired in 1980. He enjoyed gardening and loved being with family.
In addition to his wife of fifty-three years, he is survived by nieces and nephews, Jean Tarr, Stephanie Lane, Stephen, husband of Joanne Lane, Robert Lane and Norman Doucette; as well as many grandnieces and grandnephews. He was also predeceased by two sisters, Lillian Doucette and Viola Silva; two brothers and a sister-in-law, LeRoy and Phyllis Tarr and Homer T. Tarr.
His funeral service will be held on Tuesday morning in the Pike-Grondin Funeral Home, 61 Middle Street, Gloucester at 11 a.m. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10 to 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. Interment will be held in the Wesleyan Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in his memory to the Gloucester United Methodist Church, 436 Washington Street, Gloucester, MA 01930.
