On Thursday, December 30th, 2010 God took the hand of an amazing woman, Donna M. Smith Fish, age 61, and walked her through the Gates of Heaven.
Donna was born in New London on July 5, 1949 the daughter of Ernest I. Smith of Wakefield, RI and the late Dorothy L. (Holdridge) Smith. She attended Mystic Academy and Fitch High School and graduated as a medical Assistant in 1971.
She mentored at York Correctional Facility for many years and served as an American Red Cross CPR and First Aid Instructor. She later served as an Area Manager for Whole Life, Inc.
In her spare time, Donna enjoyed spending time with her family which included making Christmas memorable for all of those around her. Known for her love of life, she enjoyed travelling on a motorcycle, attending car shows, crocheting and was an avid Boston Red Sox fan. A devout Christian, she also cherished her extended church family.
She was married to Arthur S. Fish in Mystic on November 18, 1967. In addition to her husband and father, she is survived by her daughter, Dawn M. Dean and husband Ryan of N. Franklin, CT; her siblings, Dorothy Burdick, Ernest I. Smith Jr., Timothy Smith, Gloria Ward, Evelyn Angora, Brian Smith, Arlene Godsey, Sherri Mooney, Melissa Smith, Toni McGirr, Sheila Hemme, Audrey Peralis, and Brenda Foor; 9 grandchildren, and a special young lady, Alice Lessing.
She was predeceased by a daughter, Donna Marie Fish.
A Memorial Service will be held at St. James Episcopal Church, Rte 2A, Poquetanuck on Thursday at 11am. In keeping with Donna’s wishes, her family requests casual dress/” come as you are”. There are no visiting hours.
