George W. Yarbrough, 88, of Macon died Thursday, December 30 at HHC Monroe Heritage Healthcare in Forsyth.
Funeral services will be held 2 P.M. Saturday, January 1, 2011 at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald with Rev. Chad Boyd officiating. Interment will follow in Clements Family Cemetery, formerly known as Ebenezer Cemetery, Irwin County. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until the funeral hour at the funeral home.
Mr. Yarbrough was born February 22, 1922 in Ben Hill County to the late Aaron and Flora Sweatt Yarbrough. He lived in Macon since 2007 from Baconton. Mr. Yarbrough retired from the railroad as a maintenance worker. He was a veteran of the United States Army and was a member of Baconton Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife: Ruth Gentry Yarbrough of Macon; stepdaughter and stepson-in-law: Earlaine & Bernard Bearry of Macon; step grandsons: Bernard Bearry, Jr., Stuart Bearry and Richard & Carolyn Bearry; step great granddaughter: Taylor Bearry as well as several nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife: Blanche Yarbrough and two brothers, Horace and Lee Yarbrough.
