Raymond J. Walton
...former Airline manager; 63
TEWKSBURY - Raymond J. Walton, age 63, a former airlines operations manager, died Wednesday, December 29, at his Tewksbury home, following a brief and courageous battle with cancer. He was the loving companion of Jeanne (Cassier) Smith, of Tewksbury.
He was born in Brighton, a son of the late Frances J. "Ike" and Dorothy (Letorneau) Walton. He was raised in Brighton and graduated from St. Columbkille High School in Brighton. He went on to earn a Bachelors Degree from New England College. During the Vietnam War, he served stateside in the U. S. Army Reserves, honorably discharged as a Sergeant.
His career began with Eastern Airlines, where he became Operations Manager. He moved to American Airlines as the Operations Manager. For the past 10 years he worked at Extra Space Storage company in Somerville.
Ray was an accomplished guitarist and musician, and was also passionate about golf.
Besides his longtime companion and her family, he is survived by two sons, David Walton and his fiancé Deborah Morgan of Somerville, and Dr. Kenneth Walton and his wife Dr. Rachel Grashow of Cambridge; two brothers, Francis Walton Jr. and his wife Ruth of Saco, ME, Michael Walton and his wife Kathleen of Tewksbury; his aunt Elizabeth Smith of Manchester and Hampton, New Hampshire; many loving cousins, and numerous dear friends throughout greater Boston and Merrimack Valley.
His funeral service was held Monday morning, Jan. 2, in the funeral home. Memorials to the Merrimack Valley Hospice, 360 Merrimack St., Bldg. 9, Lawrence, MA 01843 will be appreciated.
