Obituary


Abington - Frank O. “Owen” Taylor 93, a lifelong resident of Abington died Tuesday December 28 after a period of failing health. He was the beloved husband of the late Lena (Barone) Taylor.

Born in Taunton he was the son of the late Frank O. and Abbie (Johnson) Taylor.

Raised and educated in Abington, his fist job was at Weirs Farm in 1929. He volunteered with the US Coast Guard on the Cohasset shore before serving in the US Army in Austria and France from 1945-1949.

During his years employed at the Bethlehem Ship Yard in Fall River he learned carpentry skills and spent the remaining years as a Union Carpenter for Local #624 until his retirement in 1982.

Mr. Taylor enjoyed gardening and fishing but his greatest joy came from the time spent with his family during summers in Wareham.

He is survived by his loving daughter Lynne Kelley and her husband John of Abington, and his granddaughter Christine Kelley of Abington. In addition he is survived by his sisters Marion “Leslie” Catrambone and Lucille Russo. He was the brother of the late Verna Bump and Barbara Sciacca.

His funeral service will be held Monday January 3 at 7 PM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel Plymouth Street (Rt. 58 at the rotary) Whitman. Visiting hours will be held two hours prior to the service from 5 – 7 PM. A private burial will be held at a later date.
