Obituary

Joseph A. Foisy, 90, of Dartmouth died Sunday December 26, 2010 at St. Luke's Hospital after a brief illness. He was the husband of the late Almarinda (Vieira) Foisy.

Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Dosithe and Rosalie (Metivier) Foisy, he lived in New Bedford and Dartmouth for most of his life.

He was a communicant St. Julie Billiart Church.

Mr. Foisy was formerly employed by Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company until his retirement.

During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army. He was a member and Past Commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Pvt. A. Poirier Post 3260. He was a member of Goodyear Retirees. He was an avid reader and bowler. He was the recipient of the Marian Medal from the Diocese of Fall River.

Survivors include a daughter, Joan M. Correira and her husband John of Dartmouth; a brother, Arthur Foisy of Kentucky; a granddaughter, Jean Breault and her husband Patrick; two great-grandchildren, John and Adam; and several nieces and nephews.


He was the brother of the late Raymond Foisy.

His Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Friday at 10 AM at St. Julie Billiart Church. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery.
