SPENCER: Wilfred W. O’Coin 93, formerly of 33 Valley St., died Monday Dec. 27 at Life Care Center of Auburn.
He was the husband of Annette M. (Berthiaume) O’Coin who died in 1997. He leaves his son Wilfred R. O’Coin and his wife Joanne, two grandchildren Kim Snyder and her husband David and Kevin O’Coin all of Spencer, four great grandchildren Jessica, Travis and Emma Snyder and Douglas Shea, Jr. all of Spencer, two brothers Roland O’Coin of Spencer and Harold O’Coin of Lantana, Fl., a sister Lill Letendre of Spencer, many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by four brothers Lionel, Clair “Popeye”, Leo, and Woodrow “Speed” O’Coin, and two sisters Lorraine Buckmaster and Jacqueline O’Coin.
Mr. O’Coin worked in the custodial dept. at Reed, Rolled Thread and Die in Holden for many years, retiring in 1982.
He was born in Spencer, the son of Leo and Eva (Duval) O’Coin. He later served his country with the U.S. Army in the Pacific during WWII, and was awarded the Purple Heart for being wounded in action. He was a member of the Gaudette-Kirk Post 138 American Legion and Past Chaplain, a Life Member of the Worcester Chapter # 4, D.A.V., Our Lady of the Rosary Church and it’s Sacred Heart League, and a 20 year volunteer for “meals on wheels” with the Tri Valley Elder Program in Spencer. He was an avid Red Sox fan.

The funeral will be held on Friday, Dec. 31 from the J.HENRI MORIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 23 Maple Terr., Spencer with a Mass at 10a.m., in Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 7 Church St., Spencer. Burial will follow with Military Honors in Mary,Queen of the Rosary Cemetery, Spencer. A calling hour will be held on Friday from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. prior to the funeral.
