Obituary

WEBSTER – John S. Kozlowski, 87, of 24 Goddard St., died Friday, December 26, in Hubbard Regional Hospital after a short illness.

He leaves a sister, Lorraine Kujawski of Webster; his companion, Dorothy J. Wawrzyniak of Webster; several nephews and nieces and grandnephews and grandnieces. He was predeceased by 3 brothers, Anthony, Bernard, and Chester Kozlowski, and by 2 sisters, Stasia Bousch and Sophie Belanger.

He was born in Webster, son of Stanislaus and Josephine (Korenkiewicz) Kozlowski, and lived here all of his life. He graduated from Bartlett High School, where he played on the varsity basketball team. He attended Worcester Academy and Tufts University.

He was an Army veteran of World War II, and was awarded a bronze star.

Mr. Kozlowski was the veteran’s agent for the town of Webster for several years. He then worked for the Mass. Turnpike Authority for over 20 years, retiring in 1981.

He was a member of Saint Joseph Basilica, a life member and past exalted ruler of the Webster Lodge of Elks #1466, and a member of the Webster-Dudley American Legion Post 184. He was an avid golfer and belonged to the Nichols College Golf Course for many years. He also was a basketball referee for several years.

The funeral, with military honors, will be held Tuesday, December 30, from the Sitkowski & Malboeuf Funeral Home, 340 School Street, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM in Saint Joseph Basilica, 53 Whitcomb Street. Burial will be in Saint Joseph Garden of Peace Cemetery. A calling period will be from 9:00 to 10:30 AM Tuesday, December 30, in the funeral home.
