Walter S. Welch, commonly known as Scott of Atkinson, NH, passed away on Dec. 22, 2010 at the age of 81.
He was born in Rochester, NH on Sept. 16, 1929, the son of the late Carroll and Elizabeth Welch of Center Ossipee, NH., there he attended school and graduated from Center Ossipee High School in 1949. He attended the University of NH until he enlisted in the US Navy, where he received an honorable discharge.
The remainder of his life he was either employed by or owned air compressor companies. He cherished his two brothers; Clifford who died as a result of the Korean War, and especially his younger brother Jim. He loved his work, but his passion was always his family of four sons and his wife of 61 years. He leaves his wife Jackie, his four sons David & his wife Vickie, Jeffrey & his wife Anna, Stephen & his wife Kathy, and Richard & his wife Elizabeth, eight grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. His first grandchild; Daniel Scott, was his joyous companion until he died suddenly at the age of eighteen. He was well loved by all his family.
Calling hours will be held Wednesday, Dec. 29 from 11:30AM – 12:30PM, followed by Memorial Service at 12:30 PM at Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main Street, Salem, NH.
