Obituary

Alcide J. Albert, 79, passed away unexpectedly but peacefully on December 18, 2010 at home in Fort Myers, Florida. He was born May 24, 1931 in St. David, Maine to Benoit and Alice (Hebert) Albert.

Mr. Albert was married to the late Simone (Morin) for 45 years. He is survived by his children Jen and Toby Taylor of Pembroke Pines, FL, Carl Albert and Debbie McKinley of Fort Myers, FL, Linda and Brian Germaine of Derry, NH and two grandchildren Alexander and Sydney Germaine.

Alcide also leaves behind sisters Irma Soeder of CT, and Doris Valeri of Corte Madera, CA, and brothers Patrick Albert of Madawaska, ME, and Leo Albert of E. Hartford, CT. He was predeceased by sisters Marie Mae, Corrine, and Martha; brothers John, Lewis, Chanel, and Albanie.

Mr. Albert served his country as an Army infantryman during the Korean War and was a member of the American Legion, Post 147. He started out as a potato farmer and then worked for many years as a Millwright at Fraser Paper, Inc. These experiences fostered his strong work ethic. Alcide was an avid reader and loved animals. He will be remembered for his great sense of humor and for his favorite sayings “whatever” and “pas d’choix”. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family, sitting in the sun and riding in his red convertible.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at 11 am on Tuesday December 28, 2010 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 187 Hampstead Rd., Derry, NH. A summer interment will be held at St. David Cemetery, St. David, Maine. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Alcide's memory may be made to AARF - Aroostook Animal Rescue Foundation, PO Box 332, Madawaska, ME 04756 or MSPCA-Angell, 350 South Huntington Avenue, Boston, MA 02130.
