Obituary

MURIEL (ENGLUND) WITTENAUER, age 81, of Hingham, formerly of Chatham and Bedford, MA died on Dec. 21st, 2010, loving wife of Robert Wittenauer. Muriel was born in Somerville and was brought up in Arlington. Married to her husband for 59 years, she raised two children, Sandy and Debbie in Bedford while juggling a very busy life. Muriel served as Town Clerk in Bedford and worked in the Town Government for 20 years. An accomplished dancer, she taught dance lessons and was active with Bob in square dancing thourghout the area. An active hobbyist, Muriel developed great skill in NeedleWork, puzzles of all varieties and was an avid bridge player.

After retirement to Chatham, Muriel became active in the First Congregational Church, serving as a lead bell ringer and editor of the newsletter. She volunteered in the Chatham area F.I.S.H. Program providing transportation for patients in the area.

Before and after their retirement in Chatham, Muriel and Bob traveled extensively throughout the United States and Europe. In the most recent past, she remained active at Linden Ponds in Hingham until the progression of Parkinson's and Lewy Body Disease and its complications took her life.

She is survived by her husband, Robert Wittenauer; and daughters Sandy Studley and her husband Fred of Hingham, and Debbie Kimbrell of Sedalia, Missouri. A granddaughter, Jaime Allen of West Hollywood, CA; and grandson, Tom Allen and his wife Elisabeth; and great grandson, Jonathan of Powder Springs, GA.

A Memorial Service will be conducted on Wednesday, Dec. 29th at 3:00 PM at Linden Ponds in Hingham.
