Obituary

Gertrude A. (LaFrance) Ouellette, 94, of Fairhaven died Tuesday December 21, 2010 peacefully at home surrounded by her loved ones. She was the wife of the late Rene A. Ouellette; they had been married for 60 years at the time of his death in 2003.

Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Joseph and Albena (Trahan) LaFrance, she lived in New Bedford for most of her life before moving to Fairhaven.

She was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church.

Mrs. Ouellette was a member of the Legion of Mary and the Holy Name-Sacred Heart Senior Citizens. She was an active member of the YWCA and the YMCA, where she enjoyed swimming.

Her family was her pride and joy.

Survivors include three sons, Robert Ouellette and his wife Elizabeth of Dedham, Albert Ouellette of Fairhaven, and Atty. Alfred Ouellette and his wife Leanne of Bradenton, FL; three daughters, Elaine Viveiros and her husband Richard of Acushnet, Pauline Swanson of Holbrook, and Lucille Boucher and her husband Ronald of Rochester; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was the grandmother of the late David Swanson, and sister of the Yvonne Clarke, Beatrice Boulais, Noella, Arsen, Victor, Aldeas, and Euclyde LaFrance.

Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday at 11 AM at St. Joseph's Church, Fairhaven. Burial will follow in the Mass. National Cemetery, Bourne.
