Obituary

James Graham Tilley, age 81, of 581 Indian Trail Road, Danville, died Monday, December 20, 2010 in Riverside Health Care Center where he had been a resident for the past six weeks.
Born on September 13, 1929 in Wake Forest, North Carolina, he was the son of the late James Jefferson Tilley and Lecy Ann Carroll Tilley. He lived most of his life in Danville where he worked in construction as a superintendent for Roy Ford Construction Company and later as a heavy equipment operator for First Piedmont Corporation. Mr. Tilley was a veteran of the United States Army and served in England.
He is survived by his wife: Roena “Sue” Cook Tilley of the residence; two sons: Ricky Graham Tilley and his wife Peggy of Bedford, Virginia, Vance Wade Tilley of Danville; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by three sisters.
Funeral services, officiated by Rev. Chuck Vickers, will be held on Thursday, December 23, 2010 at 2 p.m. at the Stokesland Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Danville Memorial Gardens, with graveside military honors by the American Legion Dan River Post 1097 Honor Guard. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. At other times, they will be at the residence on Indian Trail Road.
