Dyer "Jake" Thornton, 79, passed away Saturday, December 18, 2010. He was the son of the late James and Julia Thornton. He was married to Sally Thornton, who survives him.
Mr. Thornton retired after 30 years with the City of Danville Electric Department. he had been in declining health for several years.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons and a daughter, Larry Thornton, eric Thornton and Lori Marshall, and their spouses; two sisters: christine Dalton and Maybell May; four grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today December 19, 2010 at the home of his son, Eric Thornton, 1546 N. Jamerson Road.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in Salem at the Bohon Family Cemetery.
