Christine Geyer Duncklee, of Mystic, passed away Thursday, December 16, 2010 at her home with her family by her side.
Mrs. Duncklee was born May 2, 1918 in New London the daughter of the late Henry and Nellie (Dorris) Geyer. She attended local schools and was a graduate of Stonington High School.
She was married to Willis A. Duncklee in September of 1939. He passed away on October 15, 1996.
She retired from the Monsanto Company as an executive secretary. She also worked with the Broadway School lunch program.
She was a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church of Mystic where she was a member of the bible group and the prayer circle. She was a Cub Scout den leader for many years and was a member of the Emblem Club at the Elks Lodge in Groton. She was a summer resident of Contention Pond in Hillsborough, NH.
Christine is survived by her son Les Duncklee,; her grandsons Christopher Duncklee and Jonathan Duncklee,; agreat granddaughter Christine Duncklee Bryer and husband Aaron; her sisters, Dorris Hayes and Nellie Banks; and by her good friend Lucy Howell.
She was predeceased by her brothers Anthony, Henry, Albert and Arthur Geyer, and by her sisters Gertrude Bennett Perkins and Eva Dart.
A Memorial service will be held at the First United Methodist Church of Mystic, 23 Willow Street, Mystic (www.gbgm-umc.org/fumcmystic/home) on Saturday, January 22nd at 11am. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Her family gathered previously for a private burial at Elm Grove Cemetery, Rte. 27, Mystic on Tuesday, December 21st.
