Helen A. (Fricker) Pelrine, 79, of Taunton formerly of Mansfield passed away in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her loving family, on Saturday December 18, 2010. She was the beloved wife of the late Raymond L. Pelrine, Sr. who died on November 11, 2006 and to whom she was wed on April 24, 1954.
Born in North Dighton, MA on July 28, 1931, she was a daughter of the late Walter and Avis (Bousfield) Fricker.
Helen grew up in Fall River, Tiverton and Providence, and was a 1949 graduate of Hope High School in Providence.
A Taunton resident for the past 8 years, Mrs. Pelrine had formerly made her home in Mansfield for 40 years. She had worked for many years as an Administrative Secretary at the former Motorola, Inc. in Mansfield prior to retiring.
Helen was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Mansfield, where she had also served as a former Cub Scout Den Mother.
Mrs. Pelrine was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling, and spending time with her family at Echo Lake in Pascoag, RI. She and her late husband Ray also enjoyed spending the winter months in sunny Florida.
Helen’s family was the focal point of her life. She loved spoiling her grandchildren and was anticipating the birth of her fourth great grandchild in February.
She is survived by her devoted children Raymond L. Pelrine, Jr. and his wife Lisa of Mansfield, Paul J. Pelrine of Wrentham, James M. Pelrine of North Dighton, Laura A. Pelrine of Foxboro, Jeannette M. Pelrine-Demers and her husband Henry of Cumberland, RI and Dr. Susan E. Pelrine- Burbank and her husband Robert of Holbrook. The sister of Louise Gilmore of Simsbury, CT and the late Walter Fricker, Dorothy LaPointe and Mary Soutar, Mrs. Pelrine is also survived by her cherished grandchildren Matthew, Erica, Jessica, Ashley, Nathan, Brandon, Julie, Spencer, Jocelyn, Justin, Jessie and Mark, her great grandchildren Jordan, Madison and Liam, and several nieces and nephews.
Her funeral, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held from the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home 55 North Main St, Mansfield on Thursday December 23rd at 9:30 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian burial celebrated at 10:30 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church 330 Pratt St. (Route 106) Mansfield. Burial will be held at a later date in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Mansfield.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday December 22nd from 4-8 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, Helen’s family has requested that donations in her memory be made to the Life Care Center of Raynham, 546 South St. East, Raynham, MA 02767.
