Obituary

EDGEWATER, FL: Elmer Alonzo “Terry” Onthank, III, 63, died December 1, 2010 at his home in Edgewater, Florida. He was a former resident of Andover, Annisquam, Charlestown, Southborough, and West Yarmouth.
Born in Boston on November 20, 1947, he was the son of the late Elmer A., Jr. and Ruth (Fessenden) Onthank. He was raised in Andover and Annisquam.
A graduate of Proctor Academy, Boston University and The Boston Architectural College (BAC) in 1974, he was a Registered Architect since 1979, having worked at various architectural firms. Those firms included Group One Partners, Inc, WZMH Group and The Architects Collaborative (TAC). After moving to Cape Cod, he worked at Otis Air National Guard and C& I Steel Co. Lastly, he owned his own business, Country Construction, managing several design and construction projects.
"Terry" was a passionate sailor and yachtsmen who also enjoyed restoring boats of all sizes. His hobbies included skiing, tennis and line-dancing.
He is survived by his son, Benjamin B. Onthank; his siblings, Lynda Onthank Sullivan of Natick and Robert Fessenden Onthank of San Diego, CA; four nieces and nephews, two brothers-in-law, and many cousins. He was also predeceased by his sister, Lee O. Barrett. He is joined by his wife, Dolores H. Labbee-Onthank.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, December 22nd in the Annisquam Village Church, 820 Washington St., Gloucester at 2 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. Interment will be held privately in the Evergreen Cemetery, Leominster.
