HAVERHILL: Steven J. Lord, 29, died Thursday, December 16, 2010 surrounded by his family at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston.
Born in Haverhill on February 18, 1981, he was the son of Alan and Jean (Shanahan) Lord of Groveland. Steve attended the Professional Center Early Intervention Program in Andover, Special Education Program at Pentucket Regional in West Newbury, Crotched Mountain in Greenfield, NH and the American Training Day Rehabilitation in Lawrence.
In addition to his loving parents, he is survived by his loving sister, Tracy and her husband, Adam Moskal of Groveland, maternal grandmother, Eileen Shanahan of Haverhill and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his maternal grandfather, Joseph Shanahan and his paternal grandparents, Albert and Theresa Lord.
The family would like to thank all the wonderful professionals and caregivers for being part of Steven’s life. Steven touched many people with his smiles and laughter. Special thanks to Mike and the staff for their wonderful care and love at Steven’s group home on Lakewood Terrace in Haverhill, where he resided for the last seven years.
His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday in the St. Patrick’s Church, Center St., Groveland at 9:30 a.m. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday in the Linnehan-Grondin Funeral Home, 129 Kenoza Ave., Haverhill from 3 - 6 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the Lowe Syndrome Association, P.O. Box 864346, Plano, TX 75086-4346. Interment will be held in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Lawrence.
