Obituary

Louise Shirley Kirks Tickle, age 60, of 912 Carol Street, Martinsville, Virginia, died Wednesday, December 15, 2010 in Martinsville Memorial Hospital.
Born September 29, 1950 in Pittsylvania County, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Samuel Adam Kirks and Alma Lynch Kirks. She lived most of her life in Pittsylvania County, was a graduate of Tunstall High School, and worked at Bassett Walker Furniture Company for two years before her retirement on disability. Mrs. Tickle was a member of Community Fellowship Church in Collinsville. She was first married to James Robertson, and later to Chester Tickle, both of whom predeceased her.
Survivors include one daughter: Shirley Ann Robertson of Martinsville; one sister: Mildred Kirks of Bachelors Hall; one brother: Glenn Kirks of Bachelors Hall; two nieces and one nephew. She was also predeceased by one brother, Amon Kirks.
Funeral services, officiated by Rev. Michael Harrison and Rev. Daryl Joyce, will be held on Monday, December 20, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in the mausoleum at Danville Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends in the mausoleum for one hour prior to the service. At other times, they will be at 4220 Mountain Valley Road, Axton, Virginia.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests financial contributions payable to Mildred Kirks to assist in the funeral costs.
