WAYLAND/ PORTSMOUTH, R.I.: William V. “Bill” Keary, 91, died peacefully following a brief illness on December 16, 2010.
He was born in Jersey City, New Jersey on July 6, 1919 the son of the late Thomas Keary and Elizabeth (Gregg) Keary.
He was the loving and devoted husband of the late Irene P. (Malicki) Keary who died on September 23, 2010.
He was the beloved father of Gregg Keary and his wife Karen of Bedford, NH; Bruce V. Keary and his wife Mary of Boston; Jane K. Connor and her husband John of Holliston and Christopher B. Keary and his wife Marluce of North Grafton. Also survived by 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He was the brother of Sylvia Wirtz; Anne Keary and Tom Keary all of Toms River, NJ.
Mr. Keary had been a resident of Wayland for over 25 years and previously resided in Portsmouth, RI for over 33 years. He spent his formative years in Jersey City, NJ and received his BS in Chemical Engineering from Cooper Union. From 1947 until 1978 he was associated with the Arthur D. Little Company in Cambridge as a Chemical Engineer. He was a member of the American Society of Chemical Engineers and a proud member of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary. Bill was an active member of the ADL Alumni Group that meets on Tuesday. He was devoted to spending time with his wife
and family and enjoyed traveling and sailing on their sailboat.
Visitations will be held on Sunday, December 19, 2010 from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm at the John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Road (Off Rte 30), Wayland.
Family and friends may gather at the funeral home on Monday, December 20, 2010 at 9:00 am followed by his Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at St. Zepherin’s Church, 99 Main St (Rte. 27) Wayland.
Interment will be in North Cemetery in Wayland.
His family has requested that flowers be omitted and that donations in his memory be sent to the Hebrew Rehabilitation Center, 1200 Centre Street, Roslindale, MA 02131 for the care give to Bill and Irene during their recent illnesses.
