Louise R. (Bennett) King, 86, of Londonderry, NH, died Friday December 17, 2010 surrounded by her loved ones, in St. Teresas Healthcare Center in Manchester, NH after a period of declining health. She was born in Northwood, NH on January 30, 1924, a daughter of Edwin and Etta (Witham) Bennett. She attended schools in Manchester and Coe Brown Academy in Northwood. After her marriage she lived briefly in Portsmouth, NH, then moved to Londonderry in 1950 where she raised her family. She worked for many years at Evangeline Shoe and Dorson Fleischer Shoe in Manchester, and at NH Insurance, before her retirement.
"Little Bankie" lived for her family, who all adored her, and enjoyed frequent visits from her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She will always be remembered for her desire to see that no one ever left her house hungry. She also enjoyed dining out and was an avid card player. Before her illness she loved to dance and was always ready for a road trip. A lifelong Red Sox fan, she rarely missed watching a game and every year looked forward to opening day at Fenway.
She is survived by two sons, Paul A. King, Jr. and his wife Mary of Hopkinton, NH, and Edwin B. King and his wife Sharon of Derry, NH; one daughter, Patricia E. Hauser and her husband Allen of Londonderry; 11 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; her aunt Edith Higgins of Brentwood, NH, and an uncle, Calvin Witham of Cambridge, NY. She was predeceased by her husband, Paul A. King, Sr. in 1980, by her grandson Carlton F. Hauser in 2001, and her by brother Morris Bennett.
Calling hours were held on Monday, December 20th from 6 - 8pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. Funeral services were held on Tuesday at 10:00am in the funeral home. The burial followed in Forest Hill Cemetery, E. Derry Road, Derry.
