Laurent R. Frechette, 82, died in his home December 14, 2010.
He was born in Worcester, son of Achilles and Lillian (Magnon). He is predeceased by his beloved wife, Hazel M. (LaPrade) Frechette in 1997; his brother, Lionel; and his grandson, Thomas Frechette Shaw.
He leaves his son, Paul Frechette of Worcester; his daughters, Nancy Brodeur of Plano, Texas and Lisa Frechette of Sarasota, Florida; one sister, Doris Robillard of Cherry Valley; grandchildren Ryan Brodeur and his wife Jennifer, Nicholas Brodeur and his wife Nicole all of Frisco, Texas, Jennifer Shaw of Boston and Adam Shaw of Worcester; great-grandson, Wesley Brodeur of Frisco, Texas; and many nieces and nephews.
He proudly served in the U.S. Navy in Panama followed by employment at Rexnord Co. where he excelled as a machinist. He was gifted in applying his mechanical engineering knowledge and expertise to operating, maintaining, and repairing both simple and complex machinery. He also had well developed skills in electrical engineering and carpentry.
He enjoyed outdoor activities such as fishing, hunting, and camping as well as traveling with his wife. He also enjoyed dancing, reading U.S. history, clambakes, and hiking in his younger years. He may be best remembered as always being willing to help family, friends, and neighbors at a moments notice. He was extremely generous with his time and talents.
He was a member of Saint Joseph’s Church in Auburn.
Relatives and friends are invited to a funeral mass at Saint Josephs’s Church, 194 Oxford Street, Auburn on December 22 at 10:00am. No calling hours. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to a VNA Hospice, 120 Thomas Street, Worcester, MA 01608.
