Gregory Keith Whitley, 50, of Midland, Georgia died Monday, December 13, 2010 at Columbus Hospice House in Columbus, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held 4 p.m., Wednesday, December 15 at the McMullen Funeral Home Chapel in Columbus with Rev. David Helms officiating with visitation from 3-4 at the funeral home in Columbus. Interment will be held at 3 p.m., Thursday, December 16 at New Griffin Baptist Church Cemetery in Alapaha with visitation one hour before the service at New Griffin Baptist Church.
Mr. Whitley was born November 13, 1960 in Tifton, Georgia. He attended training centers in Tifton, Vidalia, Crown Point, IN and Hamilton, GA. He participated in the Special Olympics from the age of 13 until the age of 47, winning several gold and silver medals. He was an avid bowler, bowling on the Columbus Parks & Recreations Department League.
He is the son of Sandra & William Bock of Midland and Jake Thomas & Sue Whitley of Enigma, GA; brother: Paul Whitley (Stephanie) of Ailey, GA; sister: Nancy Lynn Meadows of Cataula; stepbrothers: Michael William Bock (Charleen) of Corning, NY, Jake “Thomas” Whitley of Alapaha, GA, Mark Whitley of Chula, GA and James Whitley of Tifton, GA and a stepsister: Cassidy Turner (Randy) of Tifton, GA. He was preceded in death by a stepsister, Janet Lynn Bock.
