Obituary

Lawrence, MA. – James Andrews, 90, died Sunday December 12, 2010 at the Oxford Manor Nursing Home in Haverhill. Born in Wareham, Ma. January 21, 2010 he was the son of John and Mary ((Taves) Andrews. James had been a longtime resident of Lawrence, and for many years was employed with the City of Lawrence.
During World War II he served his country in the United States Army before being honorably discharged at war’s end. Mr. Andrews received the Purple Heart for wounds received in battles against the German Army.
His family said that with his late wife Dora had they enjoyed traveling, gardening, cooking, and sports. According to his family he was considered to be the nucleus that kept the family together.
The widow of Dora (DeLeone) Andrews; survivors include many nieces and nephews from the greater Lawrence, Haverhill, and Wareham area.
James was pre-deceased by his sons James “Jamie” Andrews and Carmen “Cary” Andrews.
A Mass of Christian burial will take place on Thursday morning at 10 o’clock in Corpus Christi / Holy Rosary Church in Lawrence with burial to follow in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery.
Friends will be warmly received on Wednesday from 4:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, Inc. 233 Lawrence Street in Methuen.
