Obituary

UXBRIDGE/WAYLAND: Winifred L. “WINNIE” ( Brown) Fox, 90, died unexpectedly surrounded by her loving family on Friday, December 10, 2010 at the UMass Memorial Hospital after being stricken at her residence earlier in the day.
She was born in Cambridge on November 2, 1920 the daughter of the late William Brown and Daisy (Champness) Brown.
She was the beloved mother of Sylvia A. Paquette and her husband George A. Paquette of Uxbridge. The devoted grandmother of Marc Paquette and his wife Beth of Hopedale; Gary Paquette and his wife Jessica of Exeter, NH; Jeff Paquette of Lexington; Ryan Paquette, Brett Paquette and Michelle Paquette all of Uxbridge. Cherished great-grandmother of Bella Killarney; Elise Paquette; Maggie Paquette and Gary Paquette, Jr. Also survived by her brother Frederick Wilson of Dover-Foxcroft, ME, her step-brother Warner Wilson of Springfield OH as well as many nieces and nephews. She was the wife of the late Elden B. Fox who died in March of 1966 and mother of the late Charles B. Fox who died in April of 1957. Sylvia and her family would like to express their thank you to the Tri-Valley Elder Services and especially Cookie DuPree for her wonderful care and love to Winnie.
Winnie spent her formative years in Newtonville where she was educated and resided in Wayland from 1950 until 1998 when she moved to Uxbridge to with her daughter Sylvia. For over 25 years she was associated with several of the hotels in the Metrowest area in the housekeeping department. Her most treasured gift was the time spent with her daughter and her family and helping to raise Sylvia’s 6 children. In the 1950’s she served as a den mother for the children in the Pine Ridge Road neighborhood. For many years, she also assisted in the care and upbringing of several foster children. She loved to listen to music, spend time watching the birds and was especially fond of the family dogs and cats. She will be remembered for her kindness and gentle manner and her complete and unselfish devotion to her family.
Visitations will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2010 from 10:30 to 11:30 am prior to her funeral service to be held at 11:30 at the John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Rd (Off Rte 30), Cochituate Village, Wayland.
Interment will follow in the Fox family lot in Lakeview Cemetery in Wayland.
