Wendell Kirkland, 67, Woodlawn, died Friday, Dec. 10, 2010, at his farm. The funeral will be held at Noon Monday, Dec. 13, 2010 at Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Funeral Home with Rev. Tony Young and Rev. Roy Williams officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until 5:00 PM Sunday and from 10:00 AM until the hour of service Monday at the funeral home. Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. He was born in Montgomery County,Oct.18, 1943 the son of Ernest Kirkland and Ethel Evans Patterson.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Jimmy Kirkland. He was a retired foreman at Trane Co. He was a Baptist, also avid lover of the outdoors and enjoyed helping friends and neighbors. He is survived by his wife Barbara Young Kirkland of Woodlawn, one son David(Lori)Kirkland of Clarksville, four step-sons Marty(Tonya)Weakley, Mark(Jane)Weakley both of Clarksville, Carl Buddy(Suzy) Bryant of Signal Mountain,TN, Mike(Candy) Bryant of Clarksville, one step-daughter Melessa(Len)Rye of Clarksville, one brother Donnie(Jeanette)Kirkland of Indian Mound, one sister Janey Thomas of Charlotte, TN, one grandson Clayton Kirkland, nine step-grandchildren and two step-great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Josh Jones, Danny Kirkland, Charles Richardson, Terry Adams, Charlie Coke and Randall Haley.
Honorary pallbearers will be former Trane Co-Workers. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Clarksville 543 Peachers Mill Rd. Clarksville, TN.37042.
