Jean Marie Nicastro, 80, of Brockton, formerly of Dunmore, Pennsylvania, died September 26, 2010, at The Village at Proprietor’s Green in Marshfield. Her husband of 47 years, Paul Nicastro, died in 2001.
Born in Dunmore to Irish immigrant parents, Jean was a much loved wife, mother, grandmother and friend. After raising her family, she enjoyed a 17 year career at the University of Scranton, retiring from Personnel Services in 1996.
Surviving are 2 children and their families: a daughter with whom she resided, Susan Nicastro and husband, John Twohig, Brockton; a son, James Nicastro and wife, Ann, Scranton, PA; five grandchildren: Edward Paul and Benjamin James Twohig, Brockton, and James Jacob, Emily and Maria Nicastro, Scranton; nieces, nephews and friends. A funeral and Mass of Christian Burial were held in Dunmore.
Jean’s family wishes to express gratitude for the kindness, support and good care given to her by Dr. Edward Legare of Newton-Wellesley Primary Care; Dr. Dilar Acar of Brigham Memory Disorders Unit; the Alzheimer’s Adult Day Program of New England Sinai Hospital; The Village at Proprietor’s Green, especially Kara and the Memory Unit staff; Norwell VNA & Hospice, especially Madeline Krovich, RN; and North River Home Care aides Cheryl Juliano, Isabel Fogwill and Naomie Comeau.
A Memorial Mass will be said at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 8, 2011, at The Franciscan Friars of the Atonement Chapel of Our Savior opposite Westgate Mall, Brockton.
