Obituary

Raymond D. Nerbonne, 84, of New Bedford died Thursday December 9, 2010 at Hathaway Manor Extended Care Facility after a long illness. He was the husband of the late Catherine P. (McGoff) Nerbonne.

Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Oderic E. and Anne (Paull) Nerbonne, he lived in New Bedford all of his life.

He was a communicant of Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish.

Mr. Nerbonne was an upholsterer who had been the proprietor of Auto Top Shop and Acme Upholstery.

During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater.

Survivors include three children, Lori Healy and her husband Brad, and Robert Nerbonne, all of New Bedford, and Sharon Buckley and her husband Donald of Lynnfield; seven grandchildren, Annemarie Shaffer, Dawn Buckley, Donald Buckley Jr., Kelley Scott, Sherri Nerbonne, Michael Vaughan, and Maeghan Healy; six great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

He was the brother of the late Richard, Paul, and Roland Nerbonne.

His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday at 9 AM at Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Sunday from 2-5 PM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
