Obituary

WORCESTER: Francis G “Rock” Tagman 59 0f 13 Mott Street died December 21st in UMass-Memorial Hospital, University Campus after being stricken ill at home.

He is survived by two sisters Sharon A Gouin and Jane Oliver both of Worcester and several cousins, nieces and nephews.He was born in Worcester a son of the late Frank and Geraldine (Thompson) Tagman, and lived her for most of his life. He attended Saint John’s High School and graduated from the former Classical High School.

He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and served for 21 years. He served three tours of duty in Vietnam, and was awarded a Bronze Star Medal, with a Combat V. He also received A Purple Heart for wounds suffered and The Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry with Palm. He was twice awarded The Meritorious Mast. He also received the Combat Action Ribbon. He retired with the rank of Gunnery Sergeant.

After his discharge he enrolled in and graduated from Quinsigamond Community College, and later worked for several years as Bar manager at The Lithuanian War Veterans Organization in Shrewsbury. Mr. Tagman was also a member of Saint Casimir Church, The Eagles Club, The BPOE, Grafton Hill Post American Legion, Vernon Hill Post VFW , and The Mairne Corps League.

His funeral will be held today from The Dirsa-Morin Funeral Home 298 Grafton Street with a Mass at 11am in Saint Casimir Church 41 Providence Street. Burial will follow at the convenience of the family in The Mass. Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Agawam.Friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 9am to 10:30 today December 23rd prior to the Mass.The family requests that donations be made in his memory to The Building Fund of Saint Casimir Church 41 Providence Street Worcester Mass. 01604
