Obituary

John H. French, 64, passed away on December 6th, 2010. He was born in Somerville on July 5th, 1946 to his parents Harry and Mary (Murphy) French. John was raised and educated in Medford, graduating from Medford High School, Class of 1964. He has been a resident of Malden for most of his adult life. He served his country honorably as a soldier in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. For 27 years he served the City of Malden as a firefighter, rising to the rank of Deputy Chief. After retirement, he remained active as a Compliance Officer for the City of Malden for over 10 years. He was an avid golfer and also enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson Motorcycle. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and the Irish American Association in Malden. He is survived by his wife Kathleen M. (Veinott) French; by his children; Denise Furlong and her husband John of Malden, John H. French Jr. and his wife Kimberly of Saugus and Jennifer Henriquez of Malden; by his grandchildren; Kelly, Bridget and Mackenzie Furlong and Jovan and Jocelyn Henriquez; and by his siblings; Donna Taylor of North Reading, Jean Nutile and her husband Rick of Hull, Harry French and Joyce Montisanti of Atkinson, NH, Joyce Breen of Laconia, NH, Nancy French of Melrose, Dan French and his wife Anne of Hampstead, NH, Don French and his wife Kathy of Litchfield, NH, David French and his wife Debbie of Pembroke, NH and Dennis French and his wife Linda of Derry, NH. He is the brother-in-law of Pat and Dan Enwright of Westfield and Jack and Rosalie Veinott of Dover, NH. John is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Relatives & friends are invited to attend his funeral from the Breslin Funeral Home, 610 Pleasant St., Malden on Friday December 10th at 8 AM followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated at Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant St., Malden at 9 AM. Services will conclude with interment in Forest Dale Cemetery in Malden. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Thursday December 9th from 4-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 1 Bromfield St., Boston, MA 02108.
