Obituary

WEBSTER – Charles Russell “Magoo” McGeary, 81 of 97 Birch Island Road, died Wednesday, December 17, in the Veterans Administration Hospital in Brockton.

He leaves, a nephew and 3 nieces. His lifelong companion, Mary L. Dow, died on Tuesday, December 23. He was predeceased by 2 brothers, Raymond and Benjamin McGeary.

He was born in Webster, son of Benjamin and Mary (Woods) McGeary and lived here all of his life. He graduated from Saint Louis High School.

He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in the African Middle Eastern Theater. He was awarded the Purple Heart and 2 Bronze Stars.

Mr. McGeary was the manager and bartender at Waterfront Mary’s and had been part owner of Mac and Mary’s Swingin Chicken in Webster. He worked until recently.

He was a former member of Saint Louis Church, a life member of the Webster Lodge of Elks #1466, and a member of the Disabled American Veterans. He was a great sports fan and enthusiast and was a basketball referee.

The funeral will be held on Monday, December 29, from the Scanlon Funeral Service, East Main Street, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 AM in Saint Louis Church, 14 Lake Street. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Dudley. Calling hours are from 2:00 to 5:00 PM Sunday, December 28, in the funeral home.
