VALENTE JOINED THE ARMY IN 1942 AND SERVED AT NORMANDY, NORTHERN FRANCE AND THE AIR OFFENSIVE OF EUROPE. A MEMBER OF THE 381st, 8th AIRFORCE OF THE ARMY AIRCORP. STAFF SERGEANT VALENTE WAS A TAIL GUNNER ON B17s AND FLEW 35 COMBAT MISSIONS DURING WW11.MR. VALENTE WAS WOUNDED IN ACTION, RECEIVING THE DISTINGUISHED FLYING CROSS, AIR MEDAL WITH 4 OAK CLUSTERS, EUROPEAN MEDAL, D-DAY MEDAL, THE FRENCH CROIX De GUERRE, PRESIDENTIAL UNIT CITATION AND THE PURPLE HEART.HUSBAND OF THE LATE PRISCILLA (LANGLEY) DANIEL IS SURVIVED BY HIS CHILDREN JACQUELINE MILONE AND HER HUSBAND PHILIP OF BURLINGTON, LINDA PORRECA AND HER HUSBAND RICHARD OF NEEDHAM AND DANIEL G JR OF NEWTON. HE WAS ALSO THE LOVING GRANDFATHER OF 6 GRANDCHILDREN AND 5 GREAT GRANDCHILDREN, AND IS ALSO SURVIVED BY SEVERAL NIECES AND NEPHEWS. FUNERAL SERVICES WERE HELD FROM THE EATON FUNERAL HOME 1351 HIGHLAND AVE, NEEDHAM ON TUESDAY DEC 23rd AT 9:00 AM. FOLLOWED BY A FUNERAL MASS AT MARY IMMACULATE OF LOURDES CHURCH NEWTON UPPER FALLS AT 10:00 AM. BURIAL WITH MILITARY HONORS AT ST. MARY’S CEMETERY IN NEEDHAM.
