New Bedford- William P. Oliver age 84 died Friday December 3, 2010 at Our Lady's Haven. He was the husband of the late Mary J. (Amorim) Oliver. William was the father of Manuel Oliver, Rose Mary Lowe both of Dartmouth, Stella Medeiros, Carol Sylvia, Doris Oliver of New Bedford, George Oliver of Fall River, Mary Jo Rogers of Manhatten, KS., and Christina Oliver of Port St. Lucy, FL., and also the late William P. Oliver Jr. Mr. Oliver was the brother of George Oliver of New Bedford, and Margaret Francis of Dartmouth. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, 4 nieces and nephews.
Mr. Oliver was the son of the late Juvenal J. and Mary (Ponte) Oliver. William was born in New Bedford and he lived in this area all of his life. Mr. Oliver was employed as a custodian at St. James Church, until his retirement. Mr. Oliver was a Captain for 19 yrs with the New Bedford Volunteered Protective Society until it was disbanded in the late 1980’s
Mr. Oliver Funeral will be from the Perry Funeral Home 111 Dartmouth St. on Thursday at 9:15 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at Our Lady of Guadalupe at St. James Church at 10:15 A.M. Burial will be private. Visiting hours will be Wednesday from 4 to 7 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited.
