Marvin Jackson Jones, 83, of 1850 Milton Highway, Ringgold, died Friday, December 3, 2010 at
Roman Eagle Memorial Home. Born in Bristol, Va on October 11, 1927, he was the son of the late
Charles Hubble Jones and Bessie Eliza Pippin Jones. He was married to Betty L. Bunn Jones, who predeceased
him on April 23, 2001.
Mr. Jones lived most of his life in the Danville area. He was a very devoted family man. He was a veteran of the United States Navy,
serving during WWII. He had worked as a Manager for Jefferson Pilot Insurance Company and later retired as an
independent insurance agent.
He is survived by two daughters, Nancy L. Martin of Keeling and Donna S. Talley of Danville; three sons, Marvin J. Jones, Jr.,
John C. Jones and Richard H.Jones, all of Danville. Other survivors include grandchildren, Marvin J. Jones, III,
Mark Allen Martin, Joey Jones, Jamie Jones, Jerry Jones, Mathew Jones, Dodie Hudson, Stacey Thornton, Kimberly Jones, Erin Jones,
Jackson Jones, Madeleine Jones, Kaylei Jones, Allie Jones and Parker Bradley. Also, 13 great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife
and parents, Mr. Jones was precedeased by 13 brothers and sisters.
Funeral services for Mr. Jones will be held Tuesday, December 7, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Barker Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will
follow in Danville Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the residence on Sunday, December 5, 2010 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m
and at Barker Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, December 6, 2010 from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m.
