Mertis E. (Davidson) Negus, 90, of Tiverton died Wednesday, December 1, 2010 at Southpointe Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Fall River. She was wife of the late James E. Negus, to whom she was married for 61 years.
Born in Westport, daughter of the late Robert W. and Ina A. (Lawton) Davidson, she had lived in Tiverton for most of her life. A graduate of B.M.C. Durfee High School Class of 1937, she worked for 30 years at Kravif Manufacturing Company before retiring in 1982. Mrs. Negus was a past member of the former Central Baptist Church in Tiverton and a past member of the Eureka Chapter O.E.S. in Portsmouth.
Survivors include a sister: Elsie R. Ridge of Tiverton; 3 nephews: Preston J. Ridge, Keith A. Ridge and Robert W. Davidson; a niece: Martha J. Belliveau; 2 great nephews: Benjamin R. Davidson and Thomas P. Belliveau; 2 great nieces: Megan L. Belliveau and Ashley A. Nicholson. She was sister of the late Milton A. Davidson.
Funeral arrangements will be private.
