Philip J. Wall, a 60 year resident of Stoneham, died on Wednesday, December 1, 2010, at Woodbriar of Wilmington Nursing Home in Wilmington following an extended illness. He was 92 years old.
Phil was born in Boston on December 9, 1917 to the late Thomas F. and Mary A. (Costello) Wall. He grew up in Everett where he attended Everett Public Schools. He enlisted into the United States Navy on October 4, 1944 and served his country proudly during World War II. He was discharged on May 18, 1946 with the rank of Motor Machinist's Mate, Third Class. Phil worked as a Ship Fitter for more than 30 years at the Boston Naval Shipyard in Charlestown until it's closing in 1974. Phil then worked as a land surveyor for Dana F. Perkins Company in Stoneham for several years. He enjoyed carpentry and gardening in his spare time. Phil was a dedicated member and longtime parishoner and usher at St. Patrick's Church in Stoneham.
Phil is the beloved husband of 58 years to the late Margaret M. (Barry) Wall. He is the beloved brother of the late Helena Milligan, Mary Wall and Thomas Wall. He is the devoted brother-in-law of Joan Blaine of Wakefield, Paul and Joanne Barry of Danvers, Richard and Beverly Snow of Wilmington and the late Leonard and Dorothy Barry. He is the loving uncle to many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Philip's Funeral on Monday, December 6, 2010 at 9 a.m. from The Carr Funeral Home, 1159 Main Street, Wakefield/Melrose line, followed by his Funeral Mass in The Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main Street, Wakefield, at 10 a.m. Interment at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. Visiting hours will be on Sunday, December 5, 2010, from 2 to 6 p.m.
