Obituary

Fred J. Cournoyer 88, of West Bridgewater, formerly of Brockton died Monday November 29, 2010 at the Guardian Center after a period of failing health. He was the devoted husband for 65 years of Freda (Hudson) Cournoyer. For the past 20 years he had resided at Matfield Woods in W. Bridgewater.
Fred was born and raised in Brockton, a son of the late Fred and Mary(Ahearn) Cournoyer. Following graduation he enlisted in the US Army and served in England during WW II. Fred had worked for A&P Supermarkets for over 30 years and had been a store manager in Plymouth and Stoughton. Following his retirement he was a postal worker at the Bridgewater Post Office for 10 years.
Fred was a proud and devout Catholic who was a longtime communicant of St. Margaret Church. He volunteered much of his time to the church and the St. Vincent DePaul Society. He also enjoyed taking long walks with his dog Benny.
Fred was the father of Janet Fuchs of Maitland, FL; Nancy Bilunas and her husband Robert of Lakeville, MA; Jeffrey Cournoyer of Florida and the late Ted Cournoyer. He also leaves his brother Robert Cournoyer of N. Easton, several grandchildren, five great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral from the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont St. (Rte 123) Brockton Saturday at 9 am. Funeral Mass in St. Ann Church West Bridgewater at 10 am. Burial in Calvary Cemetery. Visiting hours Friday 4-7 pm.
