Obituary

Antonio L. Zaccagnini, a long-time resident of Wilmington passed away suddenly, November 29th, at the Tufts Medical Center in Boston, he was 93. Mr. Zaccagnini was the beloved husband of the late Raffaela "Fanny" (Rella) and together they shared 66 years of marriage prior to her passing in May of 2008. Born and raised in Cambridge he was one of eleven children of the late Giovanni and Antonilla (Ramasco) Zaccagnini.

Mr. Zaccagnini was a retired member of the Clothing Workers Union and worked for many years as a finish presser of fine wool clothing with the former Mel’s Sportswear Co. of Medford. Mr. Zaccagnini also worked for many years as an independent self-employed television repairman. Mostly devoted to his large family, he enjoyed being the family patriarch and always looked forward to helping family members with his many talents as a handyman, assisting them with preparing their personal tax returns, or just to offer advice when needed. Mr. Zaccagnini especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren and loved to entertain them with magic tricks over the years. He will be greatly missed.

Along with his late wife, Mr. Zaccagnini is predeceased by six brothers and sisters. He is survived by his children, Roberta Rust of California, James Zaccagnini of North Carolina, Diane Ingalls of Nashua, NH, Larry Zaccagnini of Wilmington, Lenny Zaccagnini and his wife Terrie of Billerica. He is also survived by eleven loving grandchildren and eleven loving great grandchildren. He is further survived by two sisters and two brothers.

Funeral services will be held from the Dello Russo Funeral Home 374 Main St., Wilmington, on Saturday, December 4th, at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Thomas of Villanova Church, 126 Middlesex Ave, Wilmington, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours at the Dello Russo Funeral Home will be held on Friday, December 3rd, from 4 to 8 p.m. Services will conclude with burial at Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington.
