Obituary

Dartmouth - Jose Da Ponte Medeiros of New Bedford died Friday December 19th at Brandon Woods of Dartmouth. He was the widower of Maria Adelina (Cabral) Medeiros. He is survived by three daughters, Isabel Pimentel of New Bedford, Adelina Pimentel and Maria Lawton both of Dartmouth, A son Joseph Da Ponte of New Bedford, He is also survived by 9 Grandchildren, David, Michael, Ann, Adeline, Elizabeth, and Phillip Pimentel, Erica, Rebecca, and Sarah Lawton. He is also survived by his brother Antonio Da Ponte, and sister Maria Inez Do Rego both of Portugal.

Mr. Medeiros was born in Rosario Da Logoa, Sao Miguel, Azores. the son of the late Antonio Da Ponte and Ana Isabel (Medeiros) Chora. He was a retired machine operator forChamberlain Mfg. He was a loving and generous husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He loved nothing more than being with his family: so proud of his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed life, and while young lived in Angola, Africa, and Quebec, Canada. He loved gardening; his plantation in Sao Miguel included vineyards and orchards. He loved his home, but could often be found playing cards in Ashley Park, or watching soccer. His last two years were spent enjoying the company of his friends at Brandon Woods Adult Day Health-his home away from home. He will be greatly missed

The funeral services will be Monday December 22, 2003 at the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. at 11 am, officiated by Fr. Jack Oliveira.
