Charlton
Colleen L. O'Brien, 53, received her blue angels wings on Saturday, November 27, 2010, after a courageous battle with Uterine Cancer. She was surrounded by her loving family at home when she peacefully joined her beloved Dad in heaven. She hands off her selfless legacy to devoted husband Paul and two beautiful daughters, Jillian and Lisa. She is survivedby her mother, Marie T. Grant of Leicester; four sisters, Cathleen Grant of Worcester, Maureen Meriano of Waterloo,N.Y.,Eileen Terrill of Shrewsbury, and Christine Rock of Clayton, CA;one brother, James Grant of Worcester, and many sisters and brothers-in-law, cousins,nieces and nephews.She was predeceased by her father, Richard J. Grant.
Colleen graduated from Leicester High School and Nichols College. She worked for Unun Disability Insurance for 29 years. Colleen enjoyed a number of promotions within the company and was most recently an Assistant Vice President. Colleen had been deeply involved in charity work most of her adult life, serving agencies such as Big Brothers/Big Sisters; Junior Achievement, Girl's Inc.,Worcester Community Action Council, and United Way. Giving to those in need was a natural extension of her personality and she did it graciously and without fanfare.
Colleen was known for her loyalty, kindness, determination, courage, and optimism. She never retreated from an opportunity or a challenge. Colleen loved organizing parties and activities, trips to Myrtle Beach, M&M's, her family, her church, her company, and the community. Most of all, Colleen was a devoted mother and wife. She will be missed by so many people who knew and lived her.
A Memorial Service for Colleen will be held on Saturday, December 4, 2010 at 11:30AM at St. Joseph's Church,10 H-Putnam Rd.,Ext., in Charlton.
There are no calling hours.
