Vivian Elaine Anderson
Vivian Elaine (Root) Anderson, 88, of Hudson MA, died November 28, 2010 at Beaumont Nursing Home in Westborough. She was born in Norton, WI; the daughter of Lewis and Olga (Johnson) Root. She was the wife of John M. Anderson who died in 2009.
Vivian graduated from Colfax, WI, High School in 1939 and from the University of Wisconsin, Madison in 1943 with a degree in Textile Chemistry. After college she moved to Niagara Falls, NY where she took a job with Carborundum Corp. She married John in 1945 and became a homemaker.
Vivian and her husband John had been long time active members of the Bacon Memorial Presbyterian Church in Niagara Falls prior to moving to Hudson, MA in 2006 where they joined the First United Methodist Church in Hudson. Vivian was deeply involved with her church and multiple community groups, especially the Red Cross Volunteers.
Vivian is survived by four sons and their families: John Gregg Anderson and his wife Gisela of Reno, NV; David Martin Anderson and his wife Kathy of Rockville, MD; Philip Edward Anderson of Westland, MI and Jim Anderson and his wife Bobbie Ewels of Hudson, MA. She is also survived by seven grandchildren: Kristina Teixeira and her husband Narlan, Peter Anderson; Matthew, Bradley and Dana Anderson; Charlotte and Kevin Anderson. She was the sister of the late Herbert Root of Eau Claire, WI.
A memorial service will be held at a later time in Colfax, WI. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of: Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749.
